About Us

ADOPTIONS: Almost everyone agrees that our adoption process is friendly and very thorough. We feel that our role is to speak for our rescued cats/kittens since they cannot speak for themselves. We are friendly and informative and make adopting a pleasurable experience. Many people stop by more than once before making up their minds or just to chat for awhile to get as much information as possible about the cats they are interested in. Our adoption process includes a very short introductory form, a longer final form, a contract, and a home visit before finalizing the adoption. By this time, we all know each other and are comfortable in what we are doing – both adopter and adoptee! Once you have adopted from Valley Cats, you become part of our family and we welcome you with open arms. After all, you are the final step in the rescue circle…you are the forever, loving, safe home. It is people like you who make rescuing a pleasant and rewarding experience.

SERVICES: We offer many services. In general, we are a source of information and education to the community. Many people need help with problems they are having with cats they have not adopted from us. We help with such problems as behavior, diet, health and multi-pet situations. When needed, we advise people to go to their vet.
We offer a Compassionate Care program for people with limited income. These people are not able to pay necessary vet bills and would otherwise have to give up their beloved pets.
We offer a Feline Fix program for people with limited income. This enables them to get their cat spayed or neutered and thus help keep the unwanted pet population down.
We have a Senior Cat program which allows a senior citizen (55+ years) to adopt a senior cat (9+ years) at a generous adoption discount.

VOLUNTEERING: We are always in need of volunteers. We need people to foster our rescued cats/kittens. We need the expertise of professional people who can help us grow in such areas as photography, printing, writing, computer technology, fundraising, advertising --- the list is endless. We need volunteers to help at adoption events (we are happy to train), greeting potential adopters, interviewing, showing the cats/kittens, helping keep the cats groomed and the room clean.

SUPPORT US: Not all people can give of their time, but would be happy to support us in other ways. Your checks and monetary donations are tax deductible and are always appreciated. Fundraisers for Valley Cats, finding people who are interested in adopting a cat or kitten, donating new toys, cat furniture, cat beds, etc. --- all these are welcome and needed.

RESOURCES: We are able to continue rescuing homeless cats and kittens because of YOU. Your donations are important. Most of our funding comes from adoption fees. We also apply for grants and gifts. We work with veterinarians who discount their services to us. Dr. Shahzad at Canoga Park Veterinary Center in Canoga Park and Dr. Rigoni at Southern California Veterinary Hospital in Woodland Hills have been very instrumental in saving us money to keep our organization going.

ABOUT US: Valley Cats is a 501©3 tax-deductible organization. Our mission is to rescue cats and kittens in need, rehabilitate and re-home them. We know we can do it – one cat at a time. Many of our rescues come to us hurt, sick, scared or abandoned. We work with them until they are ready for adoption. We are a no-kill organization, which means that unless our vet tells us there is no hope, they will not be euthanized. Our volunteers and Board of Directors are dedicated to preserving the life and dignity of every animal we take in.
