Volunteering

WHAT DOES VOLUNTEERING MEAN?

FOSTERING CATS: Keeping a cat or cats at your home until they are adopted. Sometimes cats just need a home environment rather than being in a large group. You provide the love, food, and cat litter. We pay for any vet bills. You keep them during the week and bring them to us for adoption on Saturdays and Sundays, or by appointment.

FOSTERING KITTENS (ORPHANED OR WITH MOMS): Same as above except you keep them until they are at least 7 weeks old and about 2-3 pounds. You provide care according to our instructions and we do the rest.

CLEANING CAT ROOM & PLAYING WITH THE CATS: This simply means cleaning the cat litter pans, giving them fresh water, making sure their food bowls are not empty, and sweeping up the floor. We provide everything you need right there in the room. Cats that are in cages sometimes make a mess, but the cages are easy to clean. We are available to help train you until you are comfortable with the routine.

FUNDRAISING: We are always in need of people who can help us raise money to pay for vet bills, cat furniture, toys, etc. You do not have to be experienced, but if you are, we NEED you!

RETURNING PHONE CALLS: Making calls to follow up on people who have adopted from us or who want information about who we are and what we do.

WEEKEND ADOPTIONS: We will train you to interview people who are interested in adopting our cats. We will make you familiar with the paper work involved, etc. You will shop with people in the store after they have adopted a cat and make sure they have everything they need before they take the cat home. We also keep the Cat Room clean during these hours.

OTHER: Are there ways you can help us that we have not thought about? Let us know!
